Sue Pope Fund Hosts Community & Press Briefing To Discuss Clean Air Projects -
Local Environmental Organization to Release Money for Clean Air Projects in North Texas
The Sue Pope Fund is accepting applications for its second round of clean air grants in North Texas. The Fund was created as a result of a historic and unprecedented settlement agreement between Holcim Cement and Downwinders At Risk after Holcim’s Midlothian cement plant exceeded its permit for smog-forming pollution. It is named after the founder of Downwinders at Risk, Sue Pope, a Midlothian rancher.
Among the most unique aspects of the agreement was creating the largest private clean air endowment in the State of Texas, with a total of $2.25 million designated to be spent on local DFW air quality projects. The Fund is currently has more than $1 million available for new projects and is accepting applications for the second round of funding. For more information visit www.SuePopeFund.org
The Sue Pope Fund will be hosting one press and community briefing on Tuesday, June 9th to outline the scope of projects acceptable for funding.
