MORE: DID YOU KNOW…According to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the engines in gas-powered lawn equipment pollute more than car engines? In fact, one hour of lawn mowing with a gas-powered lawn mower produces as much pollution as driving your car for four hours!
The City of Dallas will have available 400 electric mowers as part of the “Mow Down Air Pollution” Lawn Mower Exchange Program. Dallas residents* can bring their gas mowers to City Hall and exchange them to receive a 50% discount on a new electric Neuton CE 5.2 Battery-Powered Mower for a total of: $198.61 plus $16.39 sales tax. All mowers MUST be in working condition and emptied of gas and oil in order to receive the discount.** Funding for this program has been generously provided by the Sue Pope Fund, a project of Downwinders at Risk.
*Must show proof of residency (valid ID, utility bill, etc) and make reservation by calling 214-670-6646
**Please remember to recycle or properly dispose of the gas and oil in your mower. Take the gas and oil to: Home Chemical Collection Center (HC3) 11234 Plano Road, Dallas 75243 214-553-1765
